The artist announcements will continue next year, when Weekend Festival releases more artists.

– The artist lineup released so far alone is a strong indication of how Weekend Festival seamlessly combines the different styles of EDM. The stages will feature a long line of international superstars and rising names who have risen to the popularity of fans around the world. Weekend is a place where visitors can experience the best of EDM over the course of one weekend, says Anttila.

Armin van Buuren to headline Weekend Festival next August

One of the world’s most popular DJs/producers, Armin van Buuren, will be the headliner at Weekend Festival, which will be held at Vermo Event Park in Espoo on August 1–2. Van Buuren gathered an audience of tens of thousands of people at Tallinn’s Song Festival Grounds last summer and is now returning to Weekend after a six-year hiatus.

Other artists currently being announced by Weekend include the highly popular Norwegian hardstyle duo Da Tweekaz, Holy Priest, one of the most popular hard techno artists of the moment, Dutch DJ/producer Maddix, Norwegian DJ/producer Tungevaag, who has become a huge hit with Finns, and Dutch VE/RA, who has been seen at major festivals around the world.

The artist announcements will continue in a week, when Weekend Festival announces its next headliner.
The international publication DJ Mag has chosen Armin van Buuren as the world’s best DJ for the fifth time. He has also received a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording and has the most (21) placements on the Billboard Dance Music Chart.

– We are delighted to have Armin van Buuren perform for us again after a long break. He has been one of our most sought-after artists for years. Weekend will feature several international performers next summer that cannot be experienced anywhere else in Finland. In addition, legends of the genre and rising stars will meet on stage, offering unique experiences for every festival-goer, says Weekend Festival Marketing Director Atro Anttila.

Next year’s Weekend will have three performance stages, every detail of which, from lights and pyrotechnics to the atmosphere, is designed to create an unforgettable festival experience for visitors. Next year’s theme is Purple Dimension, and it combines futuristic visuals and world-class artist coverage in a way that is unparalleled.

– You can’t experience this kind of festival production and these artists anywhere else in Northern Europe. In addition, the Weekend’s stage structures and the visual appearance of the area will be further developed, meaning that something that has not been seen in Finland before is promised, Anttila says.
Weekend Festival will continue as a R-18 event, in line with the practice that was found to be successful last year.

– It has been great to see how the profile of our festival visitors has developed over the years. Last summer, the average age of our visitors increased to almost 30 years, which shows that our event is able to grow together with our audience, Anttila says.

Nicky Romero and R3HAB announced to Weekend Festival – line-up is now complete

On Friday, the main stage will feature Nicky Romero, who has evolved from a young musical prodigy to one of today’s most influential artists. The Dutch artist, known as both a DJ and a producer, heads the Protocol Recordings label, a leader in modern electronic dance music. His iconic hits “Toulouse” and “I Could Be The One” are famous worldwide, with the latter alone amassing nearly half a billion plays on Spotify. In 2020, he launched his alter ego “Monocule.” Nicky’s credentials are impressive: a long list of original tracks, remixes, edits, and collaborations showcasing his ability to adapt to the ever-changing landscape of electronic music.

Another Dutch addition to the lineup is multi-platinum DJ and producer R3HAB, a trailblazer in dance music. For over 15 years, this industry pioneer, who has performed at the world’s biggest festivals, has worked with top artists and remixed songs by Rihanna, Taylor Swift, and Drake. “All Around The World (La La La)” is recognized globally and has been played over 640 million times on Spotify. Also on the Future Stage, Dutch talent Atmozfears will take the spotlight. His music is rooted in the Hardstyle genre, which he brings to life with strength and versatility around the world. Known for breaking genre boundaries and discovering new inspiring paths, Atmozfears has evolved over the years from a rising star to an established figure in the Hardstyle scene.

The Future Stage will also feature Finnish dance music veterans HeavyWeight on Saturday. Formed in 2009, this dynamic group has achieved significant success, entertaining crowds across clubs and festivals throughout the northern hemisphere. Their music has found a home on respected labels such as Universal Music, MixMash Records, and Vicious Records. HeavyWeight’s performances have electrified audiences both domestically and internationally, sharing stages with Avicii, Martin Garrix, David Guetta, Jennifer Lopez, and The Prodigy. In the studio, HeavyWeight has created unforgettable hits. Tracks like “The Anthem,” “Fireworks,” and “Viral Heroes” have dominated streaming service charts.

Adding to the Finnish talent on the Future Stage on Saturday is TMPR, a seasoned producer and DJ. His latest single “I Can Feel It,” released with Orkidea, has been making waves on global dance music charts and has garnered support from artists like Miss Monique, Vintage Culture, Nora En Pure, and Solarstone. TMPR’s sound blends various energetic techno subgenres with just the right amount of melodic and progressive elements. TMPR is a familiar face on the stages of major festivals in Finland. In addition to his own releases, TMPR is also known as the founder of Hypnosis and FADE clubs.

Due to scheduling reasons, Kanine’s performance day is moved from Saturday to Friday. Tickets prices will go up on Monday 6.5. at 23.59. Get your tickets now for the best weekend of the year!

Northern Europe’s biggest electronic dance music festival, Weekend Festival, has released Friday’s headliners. Tiësto and Alan Walker will be the headline performers of the festival on Friday. Earlier this year, Walker made a remix of the Euro 5 hit “Cha Cha Cha” in collaboration with Käärijä. Walker’s most famous song, Faded, has easily been streamed 1.8 billion times on Spotify.

“Weekend Festival continues to uphold a remarkable reputation by offering the largest-scale electronic music event ever witnessed in Finland, backed of course by top level production. This significant investment in the festival’s production is also reflected in the event’s appeal, the pre-sale registrations exceeded 15,000—a number that greatly surpasses the registration figures of previous years. The limited availability of tickets further highlights the festival’s exclusivity and high demand” says Weekend Festival’s marketing director Atro Anttila.

On Friday, the energetic, Spanish Tech House artist Wade and Ibizan Miane will also be seen on stage. Long line DJ and producer, Belgium’s Coone, and Dutch rising techno star Dion Visser are fixed for Saturday.

Weekend Festival announces first artists

Next August, Weekend Festival will once again bring the top names in electronic music to Espoo’s Vermo event park. The first artists have been confirmed. Ticket sales start on 11.12. at 09:00. Advance ticket sales start on 04.12. at 09:00. Registration for advance sales is underway on Weekend Festival’s website.

The stars of electronic music will be seen on the Weekend Festival stage next summer. For example, Timmy Trumpet, Will Sparks, Showtek and Tungevaag will take the stage.

Australian DJ, songwriter and producer Timmy Trumpet, who has collected more than 2.5 billion downloads with his production, is finally coming to perform in Finland. Having performed at the world’s biggest festivals, Timmy Trumpet has been one of the most sought-after performers every year. In 2022, the artist’s song “Narco” shot to the top of the Spotify US viral list.

Australian Will Sparks has also performed at the Weekend Festival in 2016, and will make his expected return to the festival’s stage next summer. Like him, the Dutch duo Showtek, who last performed at the festival in 2018, will also make a welcome return to the Weekend Festival.

Norwegian DJ Martin Tungevaag, who blew the pot at last summer’s festival gig will also perform at the festival this coming summer. Tungevaag, who earned several radio hits in Finland’s top 10 and more than 1.5 billion Spotify streams, will be seen on stage on Saturday.

The real pioneers of domestic dance music will be heard in Vermo on Friday, when Darude, who is releasing a new album, gets to shout out to the audience. The artist needs no introduction, as “Sandstorm” has been played almost 400 million times on Spotify alone. Last summer, this most famous name in Finnish dance music performed at the festival together with Alan Walker.

The international record label FCKNG Serious label will take over one of the stages

The festival will dance visitors again for two days at the beginning of August. For the first time, one of the stages is completely curated by artists from an international record company. FCKNG Serious label brings to the stage e.g. the following international names of electronic music: Boris Brejcha, Ann Clue, Deniz Bul, Klangkunst and Morits Hofbauer. German DJ and producer Boris Brechja sold out the CNNCT Festival, and now his label is taking over the entire stage. In the past, the record company has done the same, for example, at Ultra, one of the world’s biggest dance music festivals.

“We want to bring an international music experience to Finland, and the core of our operation is that we can offer these experiences in the same style as the world’s biggest international dance music festivals in the world. We constantly follow the foreign music scene. Weekend Festival is also the only Finnish festival that has been organized in three other countries in addition to Finland, so our international contact surface is unique by Finnish standards. We are the only big festival focusing on electronic music in Northern Europe”, says Atro Anttila, Marketing Director of Weekend Festival.

Weekend Festival will be a K-18 event in the future

Starting next year, the festival will change to a R-18 event, and the entire summer of 2024 the festival will be organized with an age limit. Therefore, the entire festival is only allowed for those over 18 years of age. The decision has been influenced by the constantly rising average age (in 2023, the average age was 29 years). Minors accounted for 2% of the 2023 festival visitors.

“The experience of our customers is important to us, and we make an event for them. Electronic music has also naturally increased the average age of the event and the number of younger customers has decreased. The K-18 festival also improves the service experience of our customers, when, for example, movement within the area becomes smoother. That’s why the decision to switch to an age-restricted festival was very natural” says Anttila.

The Weekend Festival will also be celebrated this coming summer at Espoo’s Vermo event park

Like last summer, the Weekend Festival will be celebrated in Espoo’s new Vermo event park. The 2023 festival launched a long-term collaboration with Vermo.

“Last summer we brought electronic music lovers back to Espoo – and we will happily do it again next year. The Vermo event park provided a great setting for the festival. We have planned the event for many years in Vermo together with several parties”, says the festival’s marketing director Atro Anttila.

Vermo is also excited about the multi-year development project together with the festival.

“We are very pleased that All Things Live Finland decided to organize the Weekend Festival in Vermo Event Park. This was the first time that a music festival of this size was organized in Vermo. The arrangements work smoothly in the event area. I myself was at the Weekend Festival for the first time and the experience was nothing but positive. Vermo was filled with happy young adults who knew how to have fun in style” Pertti Koskenniemi, CEO of Vermo racetrack, recalls the Weekend weekend.

The 2023 festival and its accompanying events gathered a total of 40,000 visitors enjoying dance music in Vermo. The Saturday day of the festival was sold out. There will be more artist releases from the festival on December 4th, when the first headliner will be released.

Headhunterz performs for the last time ever in Finland

Weekend Festival proudly presents the biggest hardstyle event in Finland, which takes place in the Black Box of the Helsinki Ice Hall, on Friday 15 December 2023. In addition to Headhunterz, the event will feature artists respected in hardstyle circles, Wildstylez, DJ Isaac and Aftershock.

Dutch DJ and producer Headhunterz, real name Willem Rebergen, is one of the most prominent and influential artists in his genre. His unique melodic and energetic approach to the genre has redefined the sound of hardstyle music and made it an international phenomenon.

Headhunterz, behind legendary songs like ‘Dragonborn’, ‘Destiny’, ‘Tonight’ and ‘From Within’, will take to the stage for the last time this year. Headhunterz, who have performed at the Weekend Festival up to five times, performed at the 2023 Weekend Festival to a full audience on the Future Stage for the last time. However, that appearance will not be Headhunterz’s last appearance in Finland, but now in December we will once again experience the wonderful moments that Headhunterz has created for us over the years.

In January 2024, he will open a new chapter and stop performing and touring to focus primarily on music production. Ready to move on to a new phase and live a more balanced life, Headhunterz felt it was time to make a change. Boasting 15 years of DJing, performing, touring and traveling the world, it’s a heartfelt decision that protects her physical and mental health. Headhunterz focuses on studio life, but not without going “out” first. Headhunterz has a new EP coming out this year, the first single “The Flame Inside” was released on September 15th.

Wildstylez has been at the top of the hardstyle scene for more than a decade, and is known for its close collaboration with Headhunterz over the years. Hardstyle pioneer DJ Isaac has been in the industry for over 20 years and is considered one of the founders of the genre. Aftershock won’t leave anyone cold when they serve their raw hardstyle set to the audience.

We have noticed a great interest in the hardstyle genre in Finland, inspired by which we want to offer the public the opportunity to experience the power of Hardstyle music together with other fans of the genre. This is a unique opportunity to experience Headhunterz’s show live before he stops touring. The demand for the gig is huge, so we recommend getting your tickets in time.

Weekend Festival brought electronic music lovers back to Espoo – and will do it again next year

On the main stage all day Saturday, you could see the real feel of electronic dance music and wonderful pyro effects. The day was opened by Cartoon, who set the mood for the entire festival day. The artist’s catchy songs lifted the mood and gave a great start to Saturday. Ckay’s afrobeat rhythms and amazing aerial acrobatics show, who performed for the first time in Finland after Cartoon, warmed the audience as much as the sun that shone all day.

Dance music pioneer, DJ and producer R3HAB’s gig was full of crazy energy from the start. After him, the legendary German techno band Scooter took the main stage. The band unleashed a rave set that made the audience shuffle wildly.

Dutch DJ Hardwell, who has won the world’s best DJ vote twice, danced on the main stage in a night that darkened the crowd. The top names in electronic music caress the audience, e.g. hit Spaceman.

The last performer of the evening on the main stage was the much-awaited David Guetta, who has performed at the Finland Weekend Festival a whopping six times. His one and a half hour set was full of hits from throughout Pioneer’s career. The artist really took his audience and went wild with one song after another. Guetta’s performance and this year’s Weekend Festival ended with a wonderful fireworks display.

Future Stage and CNNCT Festival Stage jammed on Saturday in sunny weather. The artists’ energetic sets got the audience in a party mood. Tungevaag gathered the area full of hands raised towards the sky, and on the CNNCT stage, techno newcomer DJ Amber Broos organized an energetic party.

“Saturday was a wonderful climax to the festival. Today we enjoyed great weather, summer vibes, captivating music and joy,” says Weekend Festival’s Marketing Director Atro Anttila.

The festival and its accompanying events brought together a total of 40,000 music-enjoying visitors. All in all, more than 60 artists performed at the festival.

Next year, the Weekend Festival will return to the Vermo event park. The 2024 festival will take place on August 2-3, 2024.

“We definitely think that going back to our roots was exactly the right direction for us. Electronic music is again clearly growing internationally, and Weekend Festival is the only festival of this scale in Northern Europe where you can get such a comprehensive electronic dance music experience. Coming back to Espoo felt like a warm homecoming. Thanks to everyone who participated”, Anttila thanks.

Next year’s festival will be organized with an age limit. There are plans for younger visitors to have their own event in connection with the Weekend Festival.

“Our customers’ experience is important to us, we make the event for them. We have noticed that our decision to invest in electronic music has also naturally increased the average age of the event and the number of younger customers has decreased. The 18+ festival also improves the service experience of our customers, when, for example, movement within the area becomes smoother. We want to continue to offer a happy feeling to music lovers of all ages, so plans for an event for younger visitors have already been made,” sums up Anttila.

Electronic dance music is back – Weekend Festival has started

The festival that returned to Espoo brought superstars to the stage on the opening day. Martin Garrix’s show culminated in fireworks and Alan Walker’s remix version of Cha Cha Cha drove the audience wild.

Domestic favorites opened the opening day of the festival, when first Isac Elliot performed on the main stage, and then Sexmane. Both artists pulled a special show tailored to the Weekend Festival.

After the Finns, the main stage saw fast-paced performances by international artists, which did not lack pyro effects and lasers.

Steve Aoki made the audience dance wildly, and the artist did not disappoint his Finnish audience this time either, but served the cake show that has become his signature.

Alan Walker’s performance was full of surprises. First, the festival crowd screamed with joy when Steve Aoki, who performed before him, jumped on stage. Soon after, the Norwegian DJ invited Darude to the stage, and Sandstorm, known to everyone, started playing. Towards the end of the performance, the audience broke out into a roaring chorus as Käärijä’s Cha Cha Cha remix played. The familiar Finnish language was also heard several times on stage, when the artist thanked the Finnish audience for the great feeling.

The amazing atmosphere of the evening was crowned by the Dutch star DJ Martin Garrix. With the last performer of the night on the main stage, almost 500 stage lights and big 50-watt lasers served up a show that lit up the event park. Four times chosen as the best DJ in the world, Garrix screamed the audience with his numerous hits, such as Animals and In the Name of Love.

The Future Stage and the CNNCT Festival Stage enjoyed the pulse of the music all day. The unique sound of Oliver Heldens’ alias, Hi-Lo, and a wonderful set with visual effects charmed and Mau P entertained the audience with a particularly long show. Hardstyle, D-Block & S-TE-Fan and Da Tweekaz blew up the audience with their energetic sets.

Weekend Festival returned to its roots in Espoo this year, when the festival was brought back to its birthplace in the spirit of Time Machine Edition. “It’s wonderful to see how people enjoy themselves and what electronic music does in them. I would like to thank our entire production and field team as well as the authorities and partners for their great work. It’s worth preparing for tomorrow with at least as much party spirit, when the weather is kind to us,” says Weekend Festival’s marketing director Atro Anttila.

At the festival on Saturday, e.g. David Guetta, Hardwell, R3HAB and Scooter. The Saturday day of the festival is sold out.

R3HAB locked for Weekend’s Saturday. Line up is now completed.

Multi-platinum DJ and producer R3HAB is known as a dance music pioneer for the past fifteen years. The pioneer who performed at the world’s biggest festivals has made remixes that are recognized on dance floors on every continent: “All Around The World (La La La)” alone has been played more than 500 million times on Spotify, and in total the artist’s songs have been heard on the platform more than 8 billion times. R3HAB develops and challenges the boundaries of dance music by collaborating with representatives of different genres. His repertoire includes remixes of the productions of Rihanna, Drake and Taylor Swift.

The festival gets more international reinforcement when on Friday British singer, DJ and producer Bklava, German BUNT. and producer and DJ Gazzi from Spain, who calls his music “emotional turmoil”, will take the stage. Bklava is known for its catchy “bops”, i.e. the pop of electronic music. BUNT offers visitors enthralling dance jams that include nuances of soul, pop and Latin music.

On Saturday, the festival crowd will be danced by the trio Cartoon, formed by three Estonian songwriter-producers, who take their influences from classic drum & bass, stadium EDM and pop. On Saturday, we will also hear the sound of American producer, songwriter and DJ Marisol, who insightfully combines a cinematic atmosphere with electronic music. On Saturday, the rising British amapiano and Afrobeat DJ Skyla Tylaa will also take the stage.

The festival regretfully has to announce the cancellation of the previously scheduled Bru-C performance. Forced by unexpected circumstances, the artist has to cancel his Friday performance at the Weekend Festival. Bru C’s replacement will be electronic dance music DJ and producer Hedex. Hedex has been recognized especially for his contribution in drum & bass circles. His remix of “Move your Body” has been played over 9 million times on Spotify.

Ticket prices will increase on July 17th.

Some of the ticket types have already been sold out and ticket sales have accelerated wildly as the summer approaches. So you should head to the ticket shops now and secure a place for the best weekend of the summer.

The artists’ set times will be announced soon.

Alan Walker locked in as headliner for Friday 4.8.

Weekend Festival returns to its roots in the spirit of Time Machine Edition as Finland’s largest electronic dance music festival. The festival brings a wide range of stars and rising names of that genre to Espoo in August. Friday’s second headliner will be the most desired artist of the visitor poll: Alan Walker. The Weekend Festival will be celebrated on August 4-5, 2022 in a new location, Vermo event park.

Next summer, the Weekend Festival will feature concerts by popular international and domestic artists. The versatile music coverage of the festival promises a real treat for festival-goers, when the most desired artist of the visitor survey, Norwegian Alan Walker, will perform on the main stage of the Weekend Festival on Friday. Next summer, Weekend Festival’s stages will also feature a comprehensive bunch of the hottest DJ names of the moment. In addition to him, the main performers at the festival will be Martin Garrix, the Dutchman who has been crowned the world’s best DJ four times, David Guetta, the French DJ legend and three times the world’s best DJ, and Dutch DJ Hardwell, who has twice won the world’s best DJ vote.

“Weekend Festival listens and prioritizes the wishes of the festival crowd when it comes to the selection of artist coverage. This year, the desire for electronic music was clear, so let’s go with that. Among the 20 most wanted artists, we have 8 artists performing next summer. Electronic and dance music are currently on the rise in the UK and Central Europe, and widespread interest has reached Finland as well. In the darkening evenings of August, the visually impressive light and laser effects come into their own – after all, the Weekend Festival has always been known for its spectacularity.” says Weekend Festival’s Marketing Manager Atro Anttila.

According to a survey conducted this year, the top DJ Alan Walker, who will take the main stage of the Weekend Festival, is also the main performer most desired by the festival goers. The Norwegian DJ has made hundreds of millions of streamed songs with star artists such as Ava Max and Sabrina Carpenter. Walker’s biggest hit, Faded, has been streamed 1.7 billion times on Spotify alone. Walker has danced Weekend Festival visitors three times before in Finland, most recently in 2019. In addition, he has performed at Weekend Festival Baltic three times and at Weekend Festival Sweden once.

The artist lineup was completed earlier this week with new artists, which are: HI-LO, Isac Elliot, Jengi, Kavinsky, Mau P, Nico De Andrea, Tony Romera and Sexmane. On Saturday, in addition to previously published artists, Matt Sassari, Amber Broos and Orkidea will be seen at the festival.

The four different performance stages of Weekend Festival’s festival area offer versatile musical experiences, and the artists announced on 19.4. will perform on Weekend Festival’s new Flux Lab stage. Flux Lab is a meeting place that you might come across in the festival area and whose inspiration is the birth of new ideas and experiences. A space where boundaries are blurred, new experiences are constantly being created and where people can come together to experiment with sound and movement.

Foreign artists such as Martin Garrix, David Guetta, Hardwell and Steve Aoki will appear on the Weekend Festival’s stages. There will be more artist releases during this week on Thursday and Friday, when, for example, the most desired artist of the visitor survey will be published.

Weekend Festival line up was filled with 7 top names!

Friday’s new additions include Steve Aoki, Da Tweekaz, D-Block & S-te-fan and Ckay. On Saturday, Tungevaag, Scooter and Uncle Waffles will take the stage. Previously, the festival has informed performances by Martin Garrix, David Guetta and Hardwell. The Weekend Festival will be celebrated at Espoo’s Vermo event park on August 4-5, 2023.

American producer and DJ Steven Hiroyuki “Steve” Aoki will be seen on the main stage of Weekend Festival on Friday. Also known as a fashion designer, entrepreneur and NFT visionary, Aoki never leaves his audience cold, he offers listeners surprising experiences at his concerts, which are still talked about years later. Aoki, one of the most popular DJs in the world, has been a popular name on the list of performers: he last performed in Finland in 2016, at the Weekend Festival. In this case, the party crowd got to enjoy the giant star’s trademark, i.e. caked by the star Steve Aoki.

The top names in electronic music will also be seen in the artist line-up thanks to Norwegian producer and DJ Martin Tungevaag. The German techno band Scooter is one of Weekend Festival’s most wanted performers every year. The crew has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide, and is known for danceable hits such as “The Logical Song”, “How Much Is The Fish?” and “Nessaja”. With years of experience, the experienced trio puts together a colorful rave set that can be heard and seen in the darkness of August on Saturday.

The top Afrobeats names will warm up the festival crowd during the days:

Afrobeats is expanding in popularity around the world and is the fastest growing genre in pop culture in the United States. Afrobeats is a style of music that has its roots in West Africa. It combines African folk music with Western nuances of funk and jazz.

“Although we are strongly returning to our electronic music roots this year in the spirit of Time Machine Edition, Weekend Festival also has a strong sense of joy and summery good vibes. This year they will also be raised by Afrobeats artists who will perform during the day,” Anttila continues.

Martin Garrix is the Friday headliner of Weekend Festival 2023

Next August, Weekend Festival will bring the top names in electronic music to Espoo’s Vermo Event Park, and on Friday, Martin Garrix has been confirmed as the main performer. All ticket types will be on sale on 15.12. at 9:00 a.m.

The hottest DJ name of the moment will be seen on the Weekend Festival stage next summer. Martin Garrix, who has been crowned the world’s best DJ four times, will take the festival’s main stage on Friday. The Dutch DJ has up to 25 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and his most popular songs have more than a billion listens. Garrix’s most famous hits include Scared to Be Lonely feat. Dua Lipa and In the Name of Love feat. Bebe Rexha. Both songs have sold double platinum in Finland. Garrix can be called one of the legends of electronic music despite his young age, and he has been entertaining music lovers for years at the world’s biggest festivals.

Our customers are at the center of everything we do. This year we are going back to our roots, both in terms of the location and the time of the music.

The festival will make the visitors dance for two days at the beginning of August in the spirit of “Time Machine Edition”. The music coverage is also a tribute to Weekend Festival’s roots. The desire for electronic music is everywhere. Electronic and dance music is currently also the most popular music genre in the UK and Central Europe. Weekend Festival has been  known for it’s visuals from the beginning, and the darkening evenings of August offer vital circumstances for the light and laser effects that are an essential part of the electronic music festival experience.

Weekend Festival will be celebrated in Espoo’s new Vermo Event Park. We’re bringing the best party of the year back to the capital region, and the Vermo Event Park offers a great setting for the festival, both in terms of the travel and accommodation options. There are a couple of train stations in the vicinity of the arena, and in the future there will be a Jokeri light rail stop. We have planned the event to be held at Vermo for multiple years together with several parties, and that is why we are happy to be able to say that we are returning to Espoo – where Weekend Festival originates in 2012, and the area guarantees Weekend Festival a continuation in the capital region as well.

Vermo is also excited about the multi-year development project together with the festival. “In August 2023, Weekend Festival will open Vermo Areena’s use of large concerts and festivals. Vermo’s operations are expanding from trotting to an arena for other events, so this is a natural trend,” says Vermo Areena CEO Heikki Häyhä.

Weekend Festival’s Sunday was one to remember

Numerous pyro effects lit up the sky as the festival crowd celebrated David Guetta’s concert (Photo: Henri Juvonen)

In celebration of the last day of Weekend Festival’s ten-year anniversary, the main stage spat fire with numerous pyro effects. During the three days, the number of visitors and the accompanying events was around 60,000. On Sunday, energetic performances and international artists were seen on the stages. During Sunday, 28 artists were heard at the Weekend Festival. All in all, 81 artists performed at the festival.

The day of the main stage got off to a flaming start, when Gettomasa’s pyros and the hot sun of Kantola warmed up the festival-goers. Hands bounced as the Emma-awarded artist took over the audience. With Blind Channel, the hot atmosphere continued in the afternoon on the main stage. There was probably no one in the audience who didn’t sing the chorus of “Dark Side”.

The sing-along continued during JVG’s energetic show, as the audience sang as loud as they could from one hit song to another. Pete Parkkonen and Sini Sabotage also took the stage. “It’s a sick crowd here”, Jare and Ville Galle thanked the audience.

Fingers were raised at the Australian rapper and songwriter Masked Wolf’s concert. The passionate hip-hop messenger had the crowd dancing wildly during the hit song “Astronaut in The Ocean”. “Thank you so much Weekend Festival for having me. I drove and traveled for 40 hours just to be here and I appreciated every moment here, never give up your dreams!”. Masked Wolf commented after the show.

The main stage got the ending it deserved when the festival’s most requested artist of all time, EDM music pioneer David Guetta took the stage. Guetta danced the crowd of Weekend Festival already in the first year of the festival in 2012 and did it again today in honor of the 10th anniversary. The gig started with the artist’s biggest hit, Titanium. Pyros lit up the sky and the crowd exploded when the first chords rang out. “It was unbelievable. Thank you for having me Weekend Festival” David Guetta thanked after the gig.

British 25-year-old singer-songwriter Sam Tompkins, known for his R&B-style and soul-sensitive sound, rocked the audience for the first time in Finland, and the sensitive voice of American singer-songwriter Elley Duhé was heard on the marquee stage in the early evening. The last performer of the tent was the hugely popular Ukrainian electro-folk group Go_A, known from the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest.

Future Stage’s day was started by Heavyweight’s Sheikkinen, who already played at the 2012 Weekend Festival, who returned to celebrate the festival’s 10th anniversary with a gig. During the gig of the DJ-producer of the heavy set of electronic music, the sound of the bass was felt in the heart.

During the trance duo Super8 & Tab, which has gained international fame as well, the party crowd got excited to shuffle and push between dance moves. Stella Bossi from Berlin and Eli Brown from Britain, well-known in the DJ scene, brought the international greetings and energetic party to Future Stage. The audience was impressed by the concert of Meduza, who performed for the first time in Finland and brought house music back to the radio, as the sun set on the horizon. Future Stage was closed by Martin K4rma, the biggest messengers of Finnish techno music, as well as Zacharian and Simona

The day on the Yle X stage was started by Solaire performing alternative rock. The 19-year-old promise of modern R&B music from Turku, Louie Blue, who performed on the Ylex Stage, relaxed Weekend’s audience with his soft voice by performing, among other things, the song “Noisy” released in 2020. The Yle X stage also featured many up-and-coming and established domestic artists, such as Pehmoaino, Hassan Maikal and Lauri Haav.

“I couldn’t have wished for a better tenth anniversary. 50 more of these. Thank you.” Jyri Heikkinen, marketing director of Weekend Festival, summed it up.

Sunday gave the tenth anniversary a worthy end. The 2023 Weekend Festival will be celebrated from August 4 to August 5, 2023. The location of the festival will be announced later. Two-day Early Bird tickets are now on sale for €125.

Stormzy locked to headline Weekend Festival on Saturday

Stormzy is one of Britain’s most inspiring and influential cultural figures. Stormzy arrives to perform at the Weekend Festival, accompanied by high demand: the star last performed in Finland in 2017, and has since released numerous hit songs and his album “Heavy Is The Head”, the songs of which have not been heard live in Finland. The album reached number one on the UK’s official album chart and has been streamed more than a billion times worldwide. In addition to being one of the great pioneers in the underground music world, the artist is also known as an advocate for equality.

The festival will also receive international confirmation as Elley Duhé takes the stage. American singer-songwriter Duhé is known for his empowering lyrics and hits “Immortal,” “Middle of the Night,” and “Happy Now”. The artist is listened to at Spotify almost 20 million times a month.

Rising from Siilijärvi, Isaac Sene is a multi-talented artist / songwriter whose long-awaited EP was released in February 2020. During 2021, Sene released new singles: “N-sana” and “Hunger.” Isaac sene, who performs modern soul-tinged pop, which is also influenced by jazz music, also competed in the UMK finals this spring with his song “Kuuma Jäbä”.

Pehmoaino, who makes personal indie-influenced pop music, has become one of the most talked about new artists with her singles “sekaisin” and “rakasta mua”. Released in August 2021, the debut single “sekaisin” rose on YleX’s playlist and next summer the artist will be seen at her first festival gigs.

The artist coverage of the Weekend Festival, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary, will be unprecedentedly diverse. The festival brings the largest international and Finnish artists to Hämeenlinna at the moment. The artist line-up involves the top names in dance, rap and pop music with more than 80 artists.

All ticket types are available from Ticketmaster, Tiketti and Lippu.fi.

The price of all ticket types will increase on May 2, 2022.
