Northern Europe’s biggest electronic dance music festival, Weekend Festival, has released Friday’s headliners. Tiësto and Alan Walker will be the headline performers of the festival on Friday. The festival brings a wide range of genre stars and rising names to Espoo’s Vermo event park in August. For the first time, the event has an age limit. Ticket sales start on 11.12. at 09:00.
Next summer, the Weekend Festival will feature performances by popular international and domestic electronic music artists. The festival’s music lineup promises to be a real treat for festival goers, as next summer, a comprehensive bunch of the hottest DJ names will be seen on the stages. Dutch icon Grammy winner Tiësto and Finns’ favorite Norwegian Alan Walker will perform on the main stage of the Weekend Festival on Friday.
GRAMMY® Award-winning, international icon Tiësto has amassed more than 8 billion global streams on various platforms and sold more than 36 million records. The DJ and producer is the only artist to ever hold the titles “Greatest DJ of All Time” (Mixmag), “Number 1 DJ” (Rolling Stone) and “Godfather of EDM” (Billboard). His song “Business” was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Dance Song last year. “All of Me” won the Grammy award for best remixed song in 2015. The artist’s dance floor success around the world is undeniable. Tiësto has also performed at the Finnish Weekend Festival once in 2016. In the same year, he played at Weekend Baltic and Weekend Sweden.
Norwegian DJ Alan Walker, who has been performing on the main stage of Weekend Festival for the last year, has made songs with international stars as well as Finnish artists that have collected hundreds of millions of streams. Earlier this year, Walker made a remix of the Euro 5 hit “Cha Cha Cha” in collaboration with Käärijä. Walker’s most famous song, Faded, has easily been streamed 1.8 billion times on Spotify.
“Weekend Festival continues to uphold a remarkable reputation by offering the largest-scale electronic music event ever witnessed in Finland, backed of course by top level production. This significant investment in the festival’s production is also reflected in the event’s appeal, the pre-sale registrations exceeded 15,000—a number that greatly surpasses the registration figures of previous years. The limited availability of tickets further highlights the festival’s exclusivity and high demand” says Weekend Festival’s marketing director Atro Anttila.
On Friday, the energetic, Spanish Tech House artist Wade and Ibizan Miane will also be seen on stage. Long line DJ and producer, Belgium’s Coone, and Dutch rising techno star Dion Visser are fixed for Saturday.
Weekend Festival released the first artists last week. The second headliner on Saturday will be Timmy Trumpet. in addition, e.g. Boris Brejcha, Tungevaag and Darude will perform at the festival. For the first time, one of the stages is completely curated by the artists of the international record company, FCKNG Serious label.
The artists’ performance times will be found when all the performers have been published later. Saturday’s second headliner will be revealed later.
