Weekend Festival
The story of the Weekend Festival began in 2012, when the first chords of the festival were heard in Luukki, Espoo. It’s goal is to be the largest music festival in Finland in terms of number of visitors, but above all to be the most famous Finnish festival in Europe.
From the beginning, the goal of Weekend Festival has been to be the most European music festival in Finland – and it is also represented today. In addition to Finland, the festival has also been held in Stockholm and Pärnu.
To date, Weekend Festival has featured more than 750 artists from around the world and over the years, the Weekend Festival has gathered more than 750,000 visitors from more than 50 different countries. Weekend has been awarded the best Finnish festival by YleX four times and has also been nominated in the Europe Awards list as the best festival in Europe. Over the years, Weekend has seen some of the world’s most famous contemporary music artists, including Avicii, Alesso, Bastille, Calvin Harris, Chainsmokers, David Guetta, Lil Uzi Vert, Hurts, Rae Sremmurd and The Prodigy.
July 1-2, 2022 marks the 10th anniversary of the Weekend Festival – and it will be bigger than ever. “In honor of the anniversary year, but also for the future, we have made big changes. We have a new location and amazing artists coming in July next year, ”says Martin Mustonen, the new Festival Director at Weekend Festival. “We will also be organizing various side events to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Weekend Festival. After a long break, we want to offer an unprecedented year of experience – it has certainly been expected. ”
The new venue for the Weekend Festival and the first artists will be released in December 2021.
